Mukesh Ambani is an Indian business magnate and the chairman and largest shareholder of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a conglomerate with interests in petrochemicals, refining, oil and gas exploration, telecommunications, and retail.

Ambani was born on April 19, 1957, in Aden, Yemen, when it was still a British protectorate. His father, Dhirubhai Ambani, was a self-made Indian businessman who founded Reliance Industries in 1966. Mukesh Ambani studied chemical engineering at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai and later attended Stanford University to pursue an MBA. However, he dropped out of Stanford after his first year to return to India and join Reliance Industries.

In 1981, Ambani became the company's co-founder along with his younger brother Anil Ambani, and took over as its chairman and managing director after his father's death in 2002. Under his leadership, RIL has become one of India's largest companies and has expanded into new sectors, including retail and telecommunications.

In 2016, Reliance Jio, a subsidiary of RIL, launched its 4G network in India and disrupted the telecommunications industry by offering low-cost data plans. The success of Jio has made Ambani one of the richest people in the world, with a net worth of over $100 billion.

Ambani is also known for his philanthropic work through the Reliance Foundation, which focuses on areas such as education, health, and rural development. He is married to Nita Ambani and has three children, including his son Akash Ambani, who is also involved in the family business.

Overall, Mukesh Ambani is a prominent figure in Indian business and has played a significant role in the growth of Reliance Industries and the development of various industries in India.
